• A special grade of Silica Sand called Hydraulic Fracturing Sand or Proppant Sand is used in extraction of Shail gas. Hydraulic Fracturing is a drilling technique for natural gas, which uses rounded silica sand as a “proppant”, a material to hold open cracks that are caused by the hydraulic fracturing process.
• Other major areas of uses of various grades of Silica Sand are: – Silicon Carbide industry, hydraulic fracturing of Oil well Reservoirs, filteration, Sand Blasting, Abrasives, Building construction products, Paint Industry, etc
