Uses of Liquid Sodium Silicate Alkaline : –

• Textile Printing : -For Colour Fixation on procion printed Cotton Fabric using Reactive Dyes. Sodium Silicate acts as PH Buffer for Printed Cotton Fabric. It improves colour Brilliancy and colour fastness of printed Cotton and Rayon Fabric. In this process, Silicate Padding is done on printed fabric using Padding machine.
• Foundry : – It acts as a binder in Foundry sand molds and cores in CO2 Casting, helping to hold the sand grains together to create a solid mold or core by introducing Carbon dioxide gas into the Sodium Silicate-Sand Mixture, without need of baking. When mixed with Silica Sand, it forms a hard, durable bond upon drying. This no bake process is very useful for production of complex shapes and thin-walled castings.
• Refractory : – Sodium Silicate can also be added to Refractory Materials to improve their strength and resistance to high temperatures making them suitable for lining furnaces and other foundry equipments.
• Soap and Detergents: – Sodium Silicate plays a crucial role in improving the effectiveness and performance of soaps and detergents. It improves alkalinity and acts as a builder/softner by sequestering calcium and magnisium ions present in hard water, contributing its ability to clean effectively in various water conditions while also providing benefits such as corrosion inhibition and stabilization
